Otto Kittel was one of the highest-scoring fighter aces of the Second World War, yet he was not flamboyant or fond of publicity. Instead, he was a country boy who loved flying, and proved very adept at the controls of a Messerschmitt 109 or Focke-Wulf 190, claiming 267 aerial victories during the war.
