first_flight_webSoon to be available for purchase and download is our new electronic article about the service of the Handley Page Hampden in Swedish service, written by Mikael Olrog. A topic a little different to those we normally publish, we’re very glad to present a really interesting look at an aspect of one of the smaller air forces of the 1930s and 1940s. The process of ordering, manufacturing, modifying, testing, and finally delivering the Handley Page Hampden to Sweden was an incredibly long and drawn out one, fraught with political interference and mishandling from both sides. This article examines the story in detail, based on Mikael’s meticulous research. For the visually-orientated reader, the Swedish Hampden is illustrated thoroughly, with 28 photographs and a pair of excellent colour profiles by Angel Sanchez.
